Network Browser is a file management and browsing utility designed for Windows networks. With the ability to connect to standard Windows or Samba shares, it allows users to effortlessly browse files, view images, play network music, and watch videos within their network environment.
Network Browser offers broad compatibility, supporting connections to most Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX smb samba network shared folders. In order to establish a connection, users will need to have the IP address of the desired network server at hand. One can choose to connect as a guest or provide their username and password credentials.
In addition, Network Browser provides the functionality to open files found on the network. Simply tapping on a file will open it using the default editor on your Android system. It should be noted that saving and uploading files is currently not supported, though this could be considered for future updates based on user interest.
An exciting development in Network Browser is its newfound support for music and video streaming over the network. The current release offers support for mp3 music files and m4v and mp4 video formats. Plans are already underway to expand the range of supported media formats in future updates; users are encouraged to provide feedback on which formats they would like to see added. With these recent updates, Network Browser has the potential to become an indispensable home network media streaming app.
Notably, Network Browser now also supports Android TV devices, allowing users to easily stream videos from their network directly onto their Android TV device.
The development of Network Browser is driven by user interest and feedback. If there is demand for additional features or enhancements, the developer is committed to incorporating them into the project. With continued support and effort, Network Browser has the potential to evolve into a fully functional network file manager and Windows Networking app. However, if there is insufficient interest in the project, further development may not be pursued.
